Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report, Off Shore Ft. Lauderdale
| Off Shore Ft. Lauderdale |
Off shore Ft. Lauderdale today, as we expected, the windy conditions that we have been experiencing all this past week diminished even more substantially as the day progressed. We fished a group of people out of Virginia and the Dolphin were the main species in the Ft. Lauderdale fishing area today. Good sized "gaffers" as we call them. Most of these fish were just outside the reef line in 120 to 200 feet of water. Amanda caught this nice Cow Dolphin on a live bait fished from one of our fishing kites (see picture). And she's proud of that fish as you can see. Kingfish were on the reefs, but the bite was erratic. There were a few Sailfish in the area .The first large schools of Mullet are moving thru the area.
These fish are close to the beach and are being eaten by large Tarpon, Barracudas and smaller Bluefish. We tried the Tarpon on a large school and had two chances but failed to land the fish. Hopefully the third times a charm as they say. The "Mullet run "should last for about ten days or so.
