 Fort Lauderdale charter fishing boats
Captain’s Blog January 4-7, 2010
Fort Lauderdale sport fishing reports bring you mixed results for the four days from Jan 5 -8th. Sailfishing slowed, and the waning full moon still had a negative result on the Kingfish bite.
Very few Kingfish for the time and effort expended trying to catch more than a couple, but we did manage to capture some when we targeted them. Some really nice sized Skipjack Tuna off the edge in 300 to 600 feet of water. We did manage to catch a
Couple of decent Wahoo on the edge and also out with the Skipjacks in 400 feet.
Our best charter was with Kathy and her group when we caught 2 of 3 sailfish bites, a Wahoo and some Skipjacks. Pictured is one of the two fish caught by the girl in the bright green.
Our coldest weather ( in possibly the last 15 years) is on the way, and if past January weather / fish patterns are to hold true, a Ft. Lauderdale fishing charter will be a memorable day on the rip. The north current finally began to run again on Friday.
Couple this with the forecast of moderate NW to NE winds for several days (after the initial blast from the front) and fishing could really take off. Nothing beats casting to tailing Sailfish, and our spinning rods are rigged and ready with fresh line for the possibility of the good sight fishing at hand.
