Our Ft. Lauderdale fishing trips have been non stop for over ten days now as Ft. Lauderdale is a very busy town during the Christmas holidays. We had to decline many requests as we were booked well in advance coming in and last minute calls for trips aboard the Marlin resulted in the boat being unavailable due to previous reservations.
Please don’t wait too long to reserve as many dates are taken quickly this time of year and through the Winter.
We have had a god run since our last report and apologize for the gap between reports, but the days have been long and the mornings come quickly when we are this busy.
We have been catching Blackfin and Skipjack Tuna, mostly well off the edge in water from 300 to 60 feet. Tilefish are biting in their usual depths at around 400 to 450 feet. We have done well on Wahoo, mostly inside of 200 feet on dead as well as live bait. Sailfishing has been off with only an occasional fish up and down the entire SE coast. We have our first really good cold front coming in tomorrow and hopefully this will get the Sails going. Even if it doesn’t if will get them a little closer as the front drops water temps causing them to slip to the south toward South Florida, and we look forward to the cooler weather. Xmas charters have always been loaded with kids for us and this year is true to form. There have been a lot of small (to you and me) Kingfish on the reefs in 50 to 90 feet of water, and they biting well, if not small for sure. Perfect for junior to tug on. We’re all kids at heart anyway aren’t we?
