Our Ft. Lauderdale Fishing charters have been providing some pretty good action. Kingfishing has been productive on the outside of the reefs for several days now. Still catching Bonitos in with the Kings. Almost all of these fish continue to be taken on strip baits fished from 30 to 60 feet below the surface at a slow troll on our deep lines. We continue to catch Wahoo, not the larger ones we were enjoying a week ago, but still nice fish and it’s nice to have shots at them so regularly. We have had five Sailfish releases aboard Marlin My Darlin since our last report here and that is really good results for mid September Sailfishing, as they are usually spotty right now. We expect them to be around but not virtually every day. We are of course happy to have them here and biting. Here’s hoping they stick around. Every one of them was caught trolling dead baits again. No takers (again) when we live baited with the exception of larger Kingfish, which we expect to see here this time of year. On and off fishing at best on the wrecks for Amberjacks. Dolphin fishing has been spotty as well. Tilefishing is strong out in 450 feet when the current allows. No whoppers but good numbers, and they are a favorite for an outstanding fish dinner in my book. Not a pretty fish in the water but beautiful on a dinner plate for sure. Our weather continues to reach 90 degrees most days and our Ft. Lauderdale fishing charters are for the most part leaving our dock here @ Bahia Mar @ 7 AM to beat the heat. |
