Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing has been good and we are still seeing schools of Mahi-Mahi, Tuna and individual Sailfish on the reef line and also off the edge in deeper water. Very soon now we will begin to see more pairs and small bunches of these Sailfish, but for now most are single fish, with only an occasional pair. Live baiting has been productive but we are actually doing better by trolling rigged dead baits. The Tunas and Dorado have been all over our Bonito strip/feather baits. The Tuna are showing a preference for these strip baits also. The Sailfish are eating these strips as well but are also popping up on rigged Ballyhoo. Most of the Mahi-Mahi are showing in the vicinity of 200 feet of water, but Sails and Mahi are up on the edge of the reef as well, especially on a flooding tide. Pictured are Kevin and Stacy while offshore with a decent sized Mahi that ate one of those Bonito strips rigged behind a sliding blue and silver feather. We continue to have steady onshore winds and this is keeping the Mahi-Mahi near shore and right in front of our inlet, and makes for easier fishing as the fish are concentrated and easily accessible without a lot of searching out in the open water. When these fish move offshore, and they will, our Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Charters will require much more hunting around to locate these schools of our most popular fish. |
