The man in the brown suit continues to dominate the “big fish’ side of Ft. Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing. While we have caught several sailfish this week the presence of large numbers of Reef Sharks has been exceptional. We are almost catching them at will and if you are looking for a big fish that at present has a high percentage for success these sharks are the ticket. A bait fished directly on the bottom is far and above the rest when targeting these types of sharks. They hug the bottom and feel most comfortable there. Pictured is a typical one we caught and released this week. Notice his aggressive posturing. Not happy with us. These Sharks are mixed in with a few Sailfish and a good number of Bonito on top of the third reefline. Kinfish are virtually non existent with four or five fish being a good haul, and most times we can’t catch that. Give them another three weeks to a month and they will be here in good numbers. Blackfin Tuna from four to twelve pounds are filling the gap nicely with large schools feeding in 150 to 400 feet of water. Catch a fat sporty shark or land some Blackfin tunas for dinner. Weather is great so come on out and take advantage of what Ft Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing has to offer.
