 Fort Lauderdale fishing
Today (Mar 16) we had some folks out on our morning Fort Lauderdale fishing charter that hailed out of Missouri. Amberjacks were again biting on the wrecks and we also managed to troll up a few Blackfin Tuna. Our afternoon charter we had Randy and his family aboard for a four hour trip. Randy and his wife were fresh off a trip to Key West where they had enjoyed good success with bottom fishing. He mentioned that he and the wife had caught billfish on several occasions at various locations, but that his daughter Brooke was new to the sport. While running in from our AM charter we had noticed an edge forming in about 220 feet of water and decided to begin the PM trip there. We set our kites out with live baits and waited. Lots of undersized Dorado were moving thru on and just offshore of the current edge. I probably saw six or seven schools of these Dorado move thru our pattern. These were VERY small Dorado but their presence signaled a good area. We stayed put. Brooke got her first Sailfish (one up on Dad, as he had caught Pacific Sails but not an Atlantic Sailfish). Caught a couple of those mini Dorado to round out the trip.
