 Fort Lauderdale fishing report
March 20, 2010
Kingfishing has remained very erratic over the last several days. Some trips we can catch a handful but for the most part they aren’t cooperating. Lots of small “Peanut ” Dolphin continue to move thru the area in good numbers but these fish are very small. Scattered Sailfish. Full grown “Bomber” Bonito are here and with them are the Sharks. Lots of Sharks. TKJr. and I managed an honest eleven footer (measured and released it) for our customers. Probably weighed in at better than 650#. The fish wasn't hooked in the mouth either, when he bit, the long line gear he was tangled in snagged the hooks.
Capt. Rick, not to be outdone, released a Mako that topped 350#. Lots of Hammerhead Sharks coming thru virtually every day. Most of these fish are six to seven feet, but many are larger. Silky Sharks are here. The last two days we have seen numerous Spinnner Sharks free jumping in water ranging from 50 to 150 feet of depth. Too bad the Kingfish aren’t biting a little better. They’re probably afraid to. Sharks love them…
