Fort Lauderdale fishing / daily report
Nov 24, 2009
Fort Lauderdale fishing is in a transitional time of year. Seas have been running at less than 2 feet and the water is very clean and Gulfstream clear with essentially sunny skies. Great comfortable South Florida fishing weather. Flexibility and experience often add up to the difference between successful fishing charters and a "slow day". Trolling can still be very productive, but live baiting can often make a huge difference. The last couple of days trolling was slow but live baiting, especially live baiting with "flipper" (small) Bonitos as bait was a good way to draw bites from larger fish. A few loops around a buoy or shallow wreck often gives us enough of these guys to get in the game. Good sized Kingfish are in our area and they love these juvenile Bonitos. We have caught some really nice ones the last couple of trips. Here's a nice 30 plus caught by one of our charters, Mark and the boys out of Nebraska.
