Our offshore Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters continue to provide good action on fully grown Sailfish. Almost all of these fish are being taken again inside of 200 feet of water. Live bait remains the surest way to score, but again we continue to get opportunities at these fish by trolling rigged dead baits. Smaller streamlined Bonito strips with a colored head up front are getting bit. The Bruce family scored on this Sailfish pictured, which is a nice fully grown fish swimming away under the starboard rigger just as he was released. Obviously a very healthy fish as he swims away straight up in the water and with a good rich black coloring, which is the right color for a released fish to exhibit if he really is healthy and ready to go. Any fading to brown means the fish is in trouble and requires extra time and attention at boatside to revive the fish. No trouble with this one, probably more than happy to see us leave, and us equally happy to have him on the end of our line for a good fight and then swim steadily away healthy. Mahi-Mahi fishing has been good on most days when we have clean water. Kings inside whether the water is clean or discolored. Deep trolled planer baits on braided line drawing the majority of bites. Hot pink witches with a mylar mix when the water is cloudy and root beer or blue / mylar mix when the water is clear has been working well for us aboard Marlin My Darlin on our Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters. |
