Our Fort Lauderdale Charter fishing trips continue to find good sized Dolphin within two miles of shore. We are finding the majority of these fish on current edges and color changes typically in less than 50 feet of water. Fish into the lower teens are not uncommon. After so much poor weather it is nice to travel a short distance and even better news to find these fish so close to shore, and we are enjoying this easy fishing. Skipjack Tunas continue to be found from 200 feet of water on out. We caught one in 70 feet the other day, a surprise as they prefer a bit deeper water. Made Capt. Steve happy as his wife makes a killer Tuna casserole from them. A little bit stronger than a Blackfin Tuna’s meat and perfect for a Mrs. Cindy casserole. Blackfin Tuna are here also and typically found as of late in 200 to 400 feet of water. Doing well on Kingfish from 200 feet on into and on top of the outermost reef. A few Sailfish showing up as the present cool front passes through. I found them in 100 feet. Look for the Sailfishing to improve further as the wind comes Northeast. We have some north current, hopefully enough that they will get on the top and tail to the south on this NE wind. Catch a Sail on spinning tackle after an accurate cast and you will be hooked, just like us. Pitch a frisky live bait to a hungry Sailfish aboard the Marlin My Darlin on a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter and hang on for some close in acrobatics at boatside, it never gets old. |
