Our Fort Lauderdale fishing boats are managing to catch a few fish even though the full moon has slowed the fishing down. Amberjacks continue to bite best on the wrecks to the south (as has been the pattern) on wrecks outside of 150 feet of water. Kingfishing is quite slow and at least when we manage a few they are of legal size. Still catching a few Tuna outside the reef. We managed a nice Sailfish yesterday but they are far from a sure bet. We are seeing them jumping every day but the moon has them in a funk. The moon is on the way out so that is good news. Another bright spot is that there are some Mahi-Mahi offshore and some of these fish are of really good size. Of course most fish are taken around flotsam and current edges, but an occasional really good fish has been taken “out of the blue” so to speak in open water without any edge, flotsam, bait, birds or really anything to visibly hold them there, other than nice clean blue Gulfstream colored water |
