Fort Lauderdale fishing is very strong right now. As you can see by the 50# Wahoo that Andrew has at the cleaning station there are some really nice fish biting. Kingfish are hitting very well and we have caught our limit the last three charters. We typically start our trips targeting the Kings and work our way down the reef line. Bonito, this Wahoo and a couple of Sailfish were caught as we essentially targeted Kings. Amberjacks continue to bite on the deeper wrecks on live bait and also jigs. They seem on the average nto be slightly smaller than the last couple of weeks, but still plenty big enough to crack a rod over hard. We fish them on heavier tackle generally so that we can get them away from structure and avoid a cut-off, and the fist couple of minutes are a war. Then it simply becomes a slugfest for the remainder of the fight. Their numbers will begin to diminish shortly as they move on. We are enjoying them will be sorry to see the drop in activity on these wrecks when the majority of these Jacks leave our area. Mahi-Mahi are hit or miss, but of a little better average size ( 4 to 7 lbs). Not unusual to catch them over 10 # now, with much larger ones available, but that is when you can find them. Our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters are offering a lot of action, as expected for this time of year.
