Our Fort Lauderdale fishing report is a good one as Sailfish and Wahoo continue to be available offshore. We have had Sailfish activity for the most part inside of 200 feet of water. We had a good day with Jay and Scott as they released 3 Sails on spinning tackle. Their fish were caught in 175 feet of water on live Ballyhoo. We are also catching a few Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) in the same area on the live Ballyhoo and also by trolling. We have had some king sized Wahoo. Pictured is a 60 pounder we caught on a live Bonito fished on a downrigger down 70 feet below the surface. That fish came out of 180 feet of water and we caught him on a Shimano TLD 25. The biggest Wahoos have been taken on live baits, but trolling will produce them as well. Kingfishing has been slow and is the result of clean water up on the inside of our offshore reefs. We do better on them as a rule when the water is discolored slightly. Some beautiful Gulfstream blue water coupled with a north current that has been in our Fort Lauderdale fishing area, while shutting down the Kingfish, has got the Sailfish and Wahoo going.
