 Fort Lauderdale fishing report
April 22-24, 2010
Here goes on the latest report for Fort Lauderdale fishing and nearby areas (April 22-24th). Kingfish continue to bite well. Amberjacks are thick, and so are the sharks as you can see by the picture. One bite. One really big bite. Who says AJs don’t taste that great. These big sharks take up residence on the wrecks when the amberjacks move in and especially when we begin to target the AJs virtually every day, as they love to pick off a hooked and struggling AJ. This bite probably came from a bigger (ya think?) Bull Shark. There’s definitely a new Sheriff in town. The next time he bites us off we’ll try him on the big tackle and hope he has room for one more. The big Bulls are actually quite smart and cautious when on a wreck that holds lots of food. Picky almost. Our best Mai-Mai weighed in @ 18#. Smaller Blackfins and big schools of Bonito moving south and feeding on small Sardines. We did not Swordfish ourselves but fish were caught on both day and night trips on privately owned (not Fort Lauderdale charter) boats as the weather has smoothed out and conditions for offshore fishing have improved.
