 Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing
Our Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing report is a good one today. We are catching some nice Kingfish at the edges of the third reef line. We are taking the majority of these Kings on trolled baits with again the deep fished baits drawing the most attention as temps are in the mid 80s to 91 or 92 depending on the time of day. The deep fished baits have allowed us to continue to catch fish right thru the warmest periods of the day as these baits are from 45 to 65 feet below the surface where it is much cooler and a lot of fish are holding there. Bonito continue to please and they also like the deep lines though we do catch more of them on the surface baits than we do the Kings. Released a nice Sailfish of at least 50 # for Greg yesterday afternoon. That fish ate a Bonito strip on a surface fished bait right behind the boat. It’s always fun to see a Sail that close and watch his bill wag behind the bait as he makes takes the bait. We missed him a couple of times as the hook hit hard parts of his bill and by the time the hook hit home everybody had located him in the spread and had an eye on him and got to see his attack on the strip. Nice Wahoo on the dock today (50+ pounder) but we weren’t the lucky ones. Really nice fish. We have caught a couple of them the last few days but not nearly as nice as that one. When they get that big they love a big Bonito. Sharks inside of 150 feet on live Bonitos also. That picture is of a 40 lb plus Barracuda that couldn’t lay off a 10 # Bonito either. Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing is providing plenty of action here in early August.
