Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing

Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing

Deep sea fishing while in Fort Lauderdale can sure be a lot of fun when you’re 13 and your dad takes you out. Paul and his son, Steve, joined us for the afternoon trip and Andrew and I were as surprised as our guests as to how much birthday luck can play a part in some excellent action and catching.
The morning trip had a short lived Sailfish bite that was over by 9 or so. Live bait was caught by our sea buoy and we had them back out in the water in no time.
Our first hit turned out to be Steven’s first saltwater fish ever, a nice Wahoo weighing in around 30 lbs. or so. After a bit of a wait, we had another hit, a BIG hit and very strong fish. This took quite some time to land and turned out to be a huge Kingfish by our standards. He weighed 41 lbs.
While we were doing battle with the big King, another hit produced a second Wahoo similar to the first. Finally we needed Dad to fight a fish as he had been wavering to his birthday son. Our last fish of the day was a very respectable King weighing 20 lbs.
As you can see in the picture, Steve had a little trouble lifting that Kingfish. But all was good turning 13 in Fort Lauderdale fishing on the deep sea.
