 Wahoo fishing is at the top of our Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing report today. As you can see in the picture there are still some nice sized Wahoos in the neighborhood. Pictured are Joe and Wendy and first mate Andrew with a nice double header caught aboard Marlin My Darlin. Each of these fish took a live “bullet” Bonito fished out of the outriggers with Wendy’s fish biting second and being the bigger fish @ 35-40 lbs. A third Wahoo bit our deep line, also fished with a live Bonito as bait, but we pulled that one off during the fish’s initial run. Southwest winds shut the Sailfish bite down for the day as we only saw one fish and he only looked another live Bonito over closely and then refused to bite. We expect the sailfish bite to pick up again as the cold front that is moving thru swings our winds to N / NE. The North current is running well and coupled with some North wind we should see some Sailfish on the surface tailing to the South. We are keeping our fingers crossed for that one. That is Fun with a big F. Wahoos now for two days and hopefully again tomorrow. I’m having some that Joe and Wendy kindly left us for dinner tonite. My wife has a great Wahoo recipe. My daughter loves it and my son can take it or leave it. It won’t be left for long if it is a leave it nite.
Some Kingfish around but a bit slow on them. There are occasional small sized schools of Dorado working both sides of the reef and moving South. Picky feeders today on the SW wind but Andrew did manage to get a nice10 lb. Bull to bite a bait in 60 feet of water. Bottom fishing is a bit slow also but the Swordfish bit as the barometer fell in front of this cold snap. Rough seas out in the Gulfstream now will cause all of us to hold off on Swordish as a target of our Deep Sea fishing here in Fort Lauderdale until the wind subsides.
