 Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing is offering good numbers of Kingfish and big fat Bonitos. While lousy on the table these full grown Bonito can really pull and seriously bend a rod. We call them “Bombers” because of the way they explode on a bait. On the good (great) to eat side we have caught some gaffer sized Dorado just off the edge of the outside reef. These Dorado are continuing to move to the South and either the reef line or slightly deeper has been a good depth for these fish. Don’t venture too far offshore as these fish are holding near shore and once you get outside of 500 to 600 feet of water and out towards the Gulf stream you will most likely have a high degree of difficulty in locating these Dorado. Best to stay nearer to shore for at least a couple of more weeks before going exploring if past March catches hold true again for this year. Blackfin Tunas continue to be in 200-400 feet of water but are not here in the numbers we were enjoying last week. We caught a nice sized Sailfish today for our charter. Brandie set the charter up for her son and Grand Pop and the Sailfish was caught and released in 120 feet of water. Wasn’t that easy as the Kingfish are very much in presence now and we go thru a lot of live baits before a Sailfish beats them to the bait. Lots of bait in that depth and the food chain goes predictably right to that area. Best bet for a big fish continues to be Sharks with nice sized ones making a strong showing almost every day in that 100 to 120 feet of water. Good action all along the reef line here in Ft. Lauderdale FL deep sea fishing is great this time of year and offering a mixed variety of available species.
