 Fort Lauderdale Charter Fishing
Captain’s Blog January 1-3, 2010
Our Fort Lauderdale charter fishing boats had mixed results these first three days of the New Year. Cool to cold weather has given the fleet high expectations for Sailfish but we have had slower than expected results. The Marlin My Darlin has managed at least one to two Sails each day, but we really expected more fish to be in our area. The moon continues to put the brakes on the Kingfish bite.
Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) have been scarce due to the offshore winds on all three days. A little bit of East wind and we should see some small schools of Dorado on and just off the reefs chasing Ballyhoos and Flying Fish as they move to the South. We caught a pair of 20# Wahoo on the 1st of Jan and had two more bites from them in 125 feet of water. This moon will have a few more Wahoo before it fades.
Pictured are eleven year old William, his Dad, and First Mate Andrew with his fully grown Atlantic Sailfish caught aboard Marlin My Darlin just prior to the release of the fish. I think he will be back again for some more Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea fishing if he has any say in future fishing trips.
