Charter Fishing in Fort Lauderdale
This will be our last report of the year and we hope you have found them helpful and enjoyable. We wish you a happy and prosperous new year. Charter fishing here in Fort Lauderdale is our one and only job and we are on the water most every day and hope these reports gave you some insight to what has been happening offshore.
Sailfish continue to be in the area and the best depth for them has essentially between 150 to 180 feet. Current conditions have slowed and the fish have moved slightly deeper than previous days. These fish are moving slowly and in no big hurry to get south. The coming front should improve movement thru the area and with some north current we are hoping for surface tailing opportunities. The last several days ( Dec 27-31st) have had fish in our area as we said, but these fish are not showing themselves until rising into our bait pattern. The full moon has brought Kingfishing to almost a standstill. Live bait coaxes a few bites. The full moon, as expected, has had a positive affect on the Wahoo. The 30th and 31st were good Wahoo days. These fish were mostly caught in less than 150 feet of water (green or blue) . We had our best fish in 120. Amberjacks are still biting on the wrecks. If you are looking for a shark you might want to look somewhere else. They seem to have gone out of town for the Holidays. There are some Dolphin (Dorado) in small schools moving thru the area. Most of these fish are under five pounds and a small live bait will get you a bite if they are finicky because of the moon. Happy New Year from the crew of the Marlin My Darlin.
