Fishing in Ft. Lauderdale is red hot right now. Lots of big Kingfish in our area and they are eating trolled and live baits right at the reef line. Plenty of Sailfish passing through as well with Bonitos and an occasional Tuna mixed in. We are spending most of our trip time live baiting and going through a lot of baits. We are averaging three Sailfish a trip and catching lots of those big Kingfish. Sharking has slowed but with the action we are experiencing there is little time to bemoan their scarcity. Live baiting has been the best way to get into the action with kite fishing drawing the bigger fish. Hopefully conditions will remain favorable and this good fishing will continue. That is Glen in the photo with one of the Sailfish we have been catching. This particular fish ate a live Goggle Eye Shad fished in a long position on one of the kites. Tackle was a Shimano TLD 25 and this fish had over 300 yards of line off the reel at one point. Good strong determined fight. Sea conditions have ranged from almost flat calm to fairly rough with little change in the action. Now is the time to go offshore fishing in Ft. Lauderdale. The fishing is quite good.
