Deep sea fishing continues to be a great way to spend some time in south Florida enjoying the great outdoors. A strong northerly running current and pretty blue green water met us today as we began our fishing charter. Our guests today were Bob and five buddies of his soon to be wedding party. Bob is out of Charlotte and was ready to take a break from a heavy schedule and have some fun. Fishing was very good and the action produced a legal limit of Kingfish and seven Dorado (Mahi-Mahi). All these fish were caught inside of 110 feet of water. Every Kingfish was taken on our deep lines on a combo Seawitch and Bonito teardrop cut strip bait. Every Dorado was taken on one of our surface fished baits, also bonito strips fished in conjunction with a small leading “dink”, which is a small plastic lure we add for color and weight. We also spent some time fishing for Barracuda as they had seen these fish in the water while diving in the Cayman Islands and the Atlantic side of Mexico and were interested in them. Catch and release after a close up dental inspection confirmed the presence of the large imposing teeth witnessed from a distance on those dives. Good fishing and good fun. First mate Ean was standing in for Andrew and he cut some nice boneless fillets that Bob and the boys had as a late lunch @ the waterfront watering hole next door. Best of luck to Bob on the 15th and thanks again for choosing the Marlin My Darlin for deep sea fishing here in sunny Ft Lauderdale, Fl. |
