Deep Sea fishing here in Ft Lauderdale is providing good catches of Sailfish and Kings. Steve and myself have been doing very well on these fish in water depths less than 140 feet. Small groups of Sailfish continue to make their way south into the current and when we manage to get in the right spot we have had multiple bites from the fish in the school. The majority of the Sailfish now are of good size and are very aggressive and hungry which results in good solid hook-ups. We have had several multiple fish days on these fish and now with another front passing thru expect this action to continue. Congratulations to Bob, Randy, Beth and Heather on their Sailfish catches.
The smaller sized Kingfish continue to bite well and we have filled our limit without too many problems. While these fish are smaller we of course are happy to see them and have sent our guests next door for a fish fry several times in the past week. They make a nice platter there and you know it’s fresh. We are catching only an occasional Mahi-Mahi on or near the reef line. These fish are not being caught any better out in the cleaner offshore Gulfstream water either so we are focusing on the strong inshore fishing as it’s hard to leave them when they are biting. Deep sea fishing in Ft. Lauderdale has been best within a mile and a half of the beach and that is where we will stay for now.
