Charter fishing here in Ft. Lauderdale continues to please. Our weather has been really nice and mild and we have had some really nice catches. We have had a good push of Sailfish and Wahoo have been at the edges of the offshore reefs. Blackfin Tunas have been just a bit deeper in water from 300 to 400 feet. Kingfishing is slow and the Kings we have managed have been small, with many still being released as they are undersized. Fun to catch, but small never the less. Bottom fishing is also slower than expected with Jacks mostly less than 20 pounds, and the Vermillion Snapper are still out of season so we have stayed away from them as they are easily hurt and catch and release for them results in too many damaged and dead fish due to the depths we have to reel them up. The exception is the Grey Tilefish that are biting well in 400 to 450 feet of water. We are keeping them. Dan Wobbi sent us this picture of a nice Wahoo and Tunas caught by his group caught the other day. This one bit right off the edge in the clean blue water, the Tunas a bit deeper as usual. |
