Fishing in Fort Lauderdale is a great way to get some sun, enjoy the warm weather and hopefully catch a few fish. Two out of the three the last couple of days. Fishing is pretty good and the weather is warm. It is also raining and the wind is strong out of the Northeast which isn’t on that chamber of commerce brochure. We have fished numerous less than perfect days this month. We actually got lucky this time as the storm in the Gulf of Mexico lost most of it’s punch, but we are getting bad weather anyway. Mexico got the worst of this one, not us. And the fishing is still strong. Nine Mahi-Mahi on a half day trip Saturday, and the Marlin My Darlin is catching Sailfish regularly as well. Here’s a picture of Tom and first mate/captain Chris and a really nice Sailfish snapped just prior to release. These fish continue to bite in water typically ranging from 100 to 200 feet. Kings as well. One fish we have not scored on for over a week is Wahoo. As far as we know we haven’t even had a bite from one. We love to target these fish, but slim pickings there lately. There’s always tomorrow, and hopefully no rain. I don’t think the fish care, but some clearer skies would be fine by us as fishing in Fort Lauderdale on a fine sunny fall morning is a great way to begin the day. |
