 Fort Lauderdale fishing
Nov 2009
Every cold (cool) front that moves thru the Fort Lauderdale fishing area will now have a bearing on the “bite”. Each passing front pushes more bait into and thru our vicinity. Early November will provide us some shots at fully grown Kingfish. We call them “Smokers”.
We look forward to these big boys and the strong fight they provide our anglers. I wouldn’t call this Fort Lauderdale deep-sea fishing, as these fish are surprisingly close to shore, often in 60 feet of water or less. Find the baitfish and you are in business. Some Sailfish early, but expect to see a good push later in the month if past years experiences hold true. Numerous Sailfish will frequent our area from a few days to as much as a week. If we are fortunate NE winds coupled with a Northern flowing current will have these fish tailing on the surface as they make their way to the south, and this scenario can for some really good fishing. Take a Fort Lauderdale charter fishing trip in late November and have a good chance at casting to a free swimming Sailfish as he ghosts along, happily surfing his way to the south and watch him turn from a grey to jet black when he sees your offering. It never gets old.
