 Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report
October 2009
October is a month of transition and how we approach our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters. We continue to troll on many days, but we spend some time live-baiting as well.
Live-baiting will produce some bigger fish, but typically fewer numbers. Lots of bait will move through the South Florida fishing area. Expect Kingfish, Bonito, Dolphin, some Tuna and a “few” Sailfish. Often these fish will be on schools of baitfish migrating to the south. We obviously spend quite a bit of time working these schools of bait. While the number of Sailfish in our area is limited, these bait schools can be a bonanza and hold the interest of several fish. The key to success is of course to find the right school with the right predators have the proper bait and be the only boat that has located the fish. As we say success happens when preparation meets opportunity. See you on the rip.
